Furthering Understanding And Tolerance

Sep. 11th, 2010 at 1:48 PM
Ok, I know I'm going backward on these. As I said, I'm unconventional.

A school in Brooklyn, New York bans a group from holding worship services in a school classroom, despite a law that requires that public buildings allow usage by "any group for the benefit of the community."

A student in Michigan is expelled from school because he used the "hate speech" in writing a paper for his school. The reason the school gave for why he was expelled was that he had quoted from the Bible. The school board supported the expulsion.

A local YMCA, Young Men's Christian Association, cancelled meetings of a Christian Bible reading group because they didn't want to offend anyone else. (What about the Christians they offend?)

The National Day of Prayer no longer has support from the White House or the administration for fear of offending people. However, the White House and the administration lends support for a Muslim day of prayer on government property.

On 9/11 St. Nicholas' Eastern Orthodox Cathedral was destroyed. It has been 9 years, and yet they still don't have the permits to rebuild, yet only a few months after Imam Rauf decides to build the Cordoba Mosque, the construction has all their permits, is approved, and encouraged.

Now, despite the so-called "separation of church and state" excuse to stop a private Bible reading held on government property, a "quiet read the Qur'an day" will be held on the US Capitol grounds on 9/11. They call it "furthering understanding and tolerance."

How can they call any of this "furthering understanding and tolerance" when anything that honors Christian or Jewish beliefs are stopped, but anything that honors Islam is welcomed.
